Exciting developments have been taking place with Healthy Living Partnership, Provide CIC and Essex County Council.
With effect from 1st July 2024, all pharmacies within Essex (excluding Southend and Thurrock) can sign up to provide the sexual health service, stop smoking service and health checks.
Healthy Living Partnerships to provide administrative and service management for Community Pharmacy services under Essex Lifestyle services and Essex Sexual Health service:
This will include managing the payments, meeting training needs of the pharmacy teams, reporting activities and service quality and ensuring teams have access to PharmOutcomes.
Healthy Living Partnerships to develop a holistic pharmacy wellbeing service offer, utilising existing commissioned and contracted Community Pharmacy activities and partnerships:
This will be developing a framework to integrate activities delivered as part of Essex Lifestyle Services or Essex Sexual Health service with activities delivered as part of other commissioned services, to present a holistic person-centred offer to Essex residents and to optimise use of resources including;
- Support service for Essex residents who smoke tobacco, to incorporate other lifestyle services to improve chances of a successful quit, new pharmacotherapies and extended support and monitoring.
- Promote delivery of the Essex Sexual Health Service contract elements with the NHS Community Pharmacy contraception advanced service to offer women choosing oral contraception an alternative to GP or clinic provision.
- To develop an enhanced specialist sexual health provision, initially from those pharmacies currently delivering HPV MSM. Integrate screening for blood-borne viruses and Hepatitis immunisation with substance misuse screening services.
- Link the NHS Community Pharmacy hypertension advanced service and the NHS Community Pharmacy contraception advanced service to NHS Healthcheck provision for eligible residents in priority PCN/INT localities.
